As of Sunday, September 2nd, 505 days remain of the Bush/Cheney administration (hat tip to The Bush Countdown Blog). 1 year, 4 months, and 18 days in which to initiate genuine accountability.
This diary has been particularly difficult to write. I hope you’ll bear with me as I try to do a few things. I’ll start with a brief commentary on leadership, with photo support, before moving on to a discussion of impeachment arguments and counter-arguments. I will then turn to an overdue impeachment roundup including Daily Kos diaries as well as media outside of dKos. After the roundup, I’ll include some action links.
Previous Impeachment Roundups:
- Kossacks who have had ENOUGH: a Roundup w/Poll
- Impeachment Roundup - Power in Numbers
- An Impeachment Roundup for Nancy Pelosi: Updated

Enough!: Orlando 8/26/07 by riles
This past Sunday, while I was standing up to say ENOUGH!, I had a very interesting conversation with a Vietnam veteran. Two points in particular struck me from this conversation.
- What are you doing to protect yourself? and
- It’s important to acknowledge by word and deed that people with skin color or beliefs different than your own are still people.”
I also took part in the National “Take a Stand” with San Francisco’s Vigil to End the War on Tuesday.
I’ve included details of both Sunday’s and Tuesday’s events below, so this is really two diaries for the price of one.
Chris was unavailable, and others haven’t stepped forward yet, so I was once again on my own. I’m working on networking and promotion to get more people to come out so that it’s not just me or me and Chris.
You might wonder either how I can go out week after week by myself or with only one or two others supporting me. Or perhaps you wonder what one person can accomplish by himself or herself. With the Gonzales resignation announced on Monday, perhaps you’re ready to declare victory and let existing processes run their course.

On August 14th, I met with Speaker Pelosi’s Deputy District Director here in San Francisco. I detailed that meeting here (light-hearted, fashion version), here (lengthy, detailed version), and here (somewhat less-lengthy, abridged version).
As fortune would have it, I have time off from school in the last two weeks of September. I’m going to try to schedule a trip to D.C. in that time in order to participate in the Iraq Moratorium in D.C. on the 21st. I am also going to take the opportunity to try to schedule a follow-up appointment with Pelosi’s office.
Below the fold, please help me to edit and refine my meeting request.

I’m a grad student studying Chinese Medicine. In a little less than a month, I’m taking a critical test that will determine whether I move forward into the last year of my program or if I will have to leave the program with the option of re-applying in one year.
When President Bush commuted Scooter Libby’s sentence in July, I became an activist for impeachment, a clear distraction at this point in my journey to becoming an acupuncturist. It is a distraction with a very real possibility of forcing me to abandon this path of my journey.
Emotionally, I’ve been here before.

The response to Thursday’s dairy, My Meeting w/Nancy Pelosi’s Deputy District Director, was great. I’d like to thank all of those who recommended and commented on that diary.
In reply to my Open Thread comment 30 seconds on the rec list, lisastar asked if I could do a condensed version, pulling the essential points from that diary. As a Cliff’s Notes version of Thursday’s diary, I think I’ve been able to cut it to about half the length while retaining the essential action points and adding a detail and a couple of links.
In this revised diary, I am leaving out the bulk of the reference links in favor of keeping it as brief and to the point as possible. For the longer, more detailed narrative, more context and resource links, please see Thursday’s diary.

After my meeting Tuesday with Melanie, Speaker Pelosi’s Deputy District Director, I am actually encouraged about the prospects for impeachment, while also coming away with a renewed sense of how large the task before us is.
It’s a wee bit long, so I’ve added a navigation index below the fold, with links throughout the text to bring you back up here if you wish.

Tonight, it’s about not looking like a moonbat, and fun pictures of animals. Tomorrow, I’ll dish on the details of the meeting.
Here’s me in I’m a Very Serious Person mode:

Join me on the catwalk below the fold. Disclaimer: I apologize, as the photo quality is not the best. Working with a tripod and timer, the camera did not have an adequate pre-focus to get crisp shots.

I have done roundups on impeachment twice before, this past Saturday and on Friday, July 27th, and will continue to do so as a series on a regular basis. In those diaries, I basically pull together a collection of recent impeachment diaries, while specially focusing on diaries covering the Enough protest campaign. This roundup is a different nature.

There have been 16 diaries written by 7 Kossacks about the Enough protest campaign since my last Roundup (two weeks ago). Those diaries are a fraction of 165 impeachment diaries written in that same time span. In approximately the last 4 weeks, over 650 diaries have been written by about 365 Kossacks. Granted, not all of those diaries have been pro-impeachment, but I only want to make the point that there are a lot of people advancing impeachment as a topic of discussion.
Below the fold, I’ll list the sponsors of the impeachment resolutions against Cheney and Gonzales, list the cities which have approved impeachment resolutions, provide links to each of the Enough diaries and some of the other impeachment diaries, and take a look at some of the articles in the media talking about impeachment. As long as this diary is, with 650 impeachment diaries, I can only scratch the surface. It’s an idea that might not be as out there as you think. If we stand up and say ENOUGH! together, more people will hear us, stand with us, and demand action of our representatives.
In San Francisco, we’ll be gathering at the new Federal Building at 7th & Mission from 12:00-1:00 on Sunday, and moving on to a busier location at 1:00.

When Wes. Clark Jr. introduced the Enough protest campaign, I understood him to be advocating a simple and leaderless campaign that could build weekly, becoming viral and drawing out more and more impeachment supporters in a quietly eloquent way. I am a strong, even evangelical, supporter of this effort and have been since it was introduced with Had Enough on July 3rd.
While I missed the first Sunday, I’ve gone out every Sunday since. In that time, I have noticed myself and get the impression from reading other Enough diaries that we get a lot of positive feedback, thumbs up, good job, thanks for doing this, etc, but we aren’t getting a lot more bodies to make the commitment to stand with us. I remain an evangelical supporter of this campaign, but feel we need to change our tactics slightly if we are to be successful. Join me below the fold for why and how.
Disclaimer: Until this protest campaign, the extent of my activism has mainly been reading DailyKos, with the exception of working as a canvasser for Sane-Freeze in D.C. when I was around 19 (it’s been a while). While I hope my suggestions are sound, they are mostly the result of brainstorming and catching thoughts off other Kossacks. (I especially would like to thank homogenius, jim d, and TrueBlueMajority for their responses to my Sunday diary.) Please help expand these ideas or challenge them as you feel necessary. I also want to stress that I have the greatest respect and admiration for Wes Clark Jr. and Cenk Uygur for coming up with the idea behind the Enough campaign. Thanks, and we’re off to the races…
